Introduction

Bill the SquirrelHello! My name is Bill and I am going to take you on an historical tour of Ann Arbor! My great, great, great, great, great, great, grandpa moved to this city from Illinois in 1824 so my family has watched Ann Arbor get settled and grow to what it is today. I love history and I know that we are going to have fun and learn a lot on our tour!

But first I have a question for you: Have you every played cards? If you have, then you know what the four most important cards in the deck are the four aces. The reason that Ann Arbor has prospered so well is that it has four aces! There are four things that Ann Arbor has or had when it began that made it so attractive for people to come here and so successful once they settled. Can you guess what they are? By the end of this tour you will know!

Before you start the tour, I thought it might be helpful to have a crash history course. Click here to find out how Ann Arbor was founded.
