1942: Ypsilanti builds planes for the war effort

Have you ever moved from one community to another? In 1942, many people moved to Willow Run, which is located just to the east of Ypsilanti. Our country was fighting in World War II, and a factory opened in Willow Run to make planes for the war. So many people came to work at the bomber factory that a whole new community was created in Willow Run.
